The Vice-Chancellor’s Travel Prize for Postgraduate Research aims to support doctoral researchers in communicating and disseminating high quality research to wider audiences. It encourages doctoral researchers in the development of their presentation skills by enabling attendance at national and international conferences.
Travel prizes are awarded competitively according to the criteria below. The standard Travel Prize is £500; however, where a doctoral researcher is making an oral presentation at an internationally leading conference and demonstrates excellence across all criteria, funding up to a maximum of £750 will be available.
There are four deadlines per academic year, which are the following:
- 31 October
- 31 January
- 30 April
- 31 July
Any doctoral researcher who has had a paper or poster accepted at a national or international research conference is eligible to apply for this prize. Eligible doctoral researchers are those enrolled on the following degrees: MPhil, PhD, Brunel Integrated PhD (New Route), Professional Doctorates (EngD, DrPH, EdD).
The Graduate School also offers training, through its Researcher Development Programme, to help doctoral researchers prepare for conference attendance, research presentations and academic writing. Please see the Researcher Development Programme for further information.
