Summary
Fazal is a Doctoral Researcher studying "the residual mechanical and metallurgical properties of stainless steel reinforcing bar following a fire".
His research involves an in-depth exploration of the residual properties of stainless steel reinforcing bar following a fire and to fully understand the residual properties, the research also studies the mechanical change during a fire scenario. Care is taken to produce an accurate data set through extensive testing for both austenitic and duplex stainless steels, this is done with over 300 tensile tests and finite element analysis, whilst additionally XRD, EBSD/SEM is used for the metallurgical study. The research ultimately aims to prove the extent of reusability of stainless steel reinforcing bar following a fire.
