Self-isolating once you arrive

If you are arriving from a country that requires you to self isolate for 14 days, you must quarantine off-campus before moving into your campus room. If you are arriving from Monday 5 October 2020 onwards, you can book temporary accommodation to self-isolate on campus. This is subject to availability, and you will be charged the en suite room rate.

When you arrive in the UK you will need to self isolate for 14 days, unless you are arriving from an exempt country listed here. Government guidance on quarantining can be found here.

If you are arriving into the UK from country which requires you to self-isolate for 14 days before Monday 5 October, you must do this off campus, before moving into your campus room. Please complete this form so we are aware of your arrival plans. You can use our list of hotels in Uxbridge and the local area to book accommodation for your quarantine period here.

If you are arriving on campus after Monday 5 October, you can book a temporary room to self-isolate on campus before moving into your permenant campus room. Please note this is subject to availability and you will be charged the 14 day room rate.

Self isolating before you arrrive

What should I do before I arrive?

If you are arriving before Monday 5 October you must arrange to quarantine off campus if you are arriving from a country which requires you to self-isolate for 14 days. Please complete this form so we are aware of your arrival plans. You can use our list of hotels in Uxbridge and the local area here.

If you are arriving from Monday 5 October onwards, you can book a temporary room on campus to self-isolate, please click here. The campus quarantine accommodation is subject to availability. You must attach a copy of your flight ticket. If you do not, we will not be able to confirm your booking. Please be aware that your booking is not confirmed until you have received confirmation from the Accommodation team. 

Once your quarantine room is booked your account will be adjusted accordingly, please check your e-vision after your quarantine room has been booked, so you can make the payment of your first rent instalment. Please note your first rent instalment will be different to that stated on your Licence Agreement if you secure a quarantine room on campus.


You must also complete the government form here at least 48 hours before your arrival in to the UK.

Where will I stay during quarantine on campus

We can only offer a quarantine room on campus if you are arriving from Monday 5 October or after.

You will be given an en-suite room within a flat of up to 9 other students. Each flat will have a 72 hour arrival window. At the end of the 72 hours, the flat will effectively close to new arrivals and your 14 day quarantine will begin.

Where do I collect my quarantine room key from?

You can collect the keys to your quarantine accommodation from the Residences Office, Concourse Hall from:

  • Monday – Friday:     8.30am until 7.30pm
  • Saturday – Sunday: 10:00am until 6:00pm

After this time, keys will be available at the Security Office, Wilfred Brown Building.

What services are provided during on campus quarantine

You will be provided with a cleaning pack on arrival and will be given a weekly change of linen. No cleaning service will be provided within your flat and only in the event of an emergency will staff enter your flat.

Where can I order food from whilst quarantining on campus

Catered meals and other essential items can be delivered to your flat during this period. Deliveries will only be made if you have registered you are self-isolating as shown above. Other essential items can be delivered to your flat by registering at https://www.brunelisolators.co.uk/. Please note you can pay directly to the catering company should you wish to take up this options.

All food must be ordered by 2pm for next day delivery.

 What will I be able to do whilst in quarantine?

It will be your responsibility to ensure you follow the government guidelines outlined here.

In England, you can only leave your accommodation for the following:

  • you need urgent medical assistance (or where your doctor has advised you to get medical assistance)
  • you need access to basic necessities like food and medicines, but only in exceptional circumstances such as where you cannot arrange for these to be delivered
  • you need to access critical public services such as social services and victim support services, but only in exceptional circumstances
  • you need to go to the funeral of a family member of someone you live with
  • you need to visit a dying or critically ill family member or someone you live with
  • you need to fulfil a legal obligation such as participate in legal proceedings
  • there’s an emergency such as a fire alarm

 What happens at the end of the 14-day quarantine period?

As long as you are show no symptoms of Covid-19 at the end of the 14 day period and you have a confirmed room on campus you are able to collect your room keys for your permenant room.. 

When can I move into my campus room?

You must complete the self-isolation period of 14 days before you can move onto campus. Once you have finished your self-isolation period, you can move into your room on campus.
