International scholarships

Brunel has a range of scholarship packages and works in partnership with several scholarship organisations and bodies including Chevening, The Commonwealth Scholarships and Santander Mobility Awards. We offer more than 100 scholarships every year to help international students. Some awards are worth up to £6000 a year to help partially fund university fees and living costs.

In 2019 Brunel will be offering over 400 scholarships to Home and International students.


September 2019 scholarships 

International Excellence Scholarship

The International Excellence Scholarship is now open 2019 applicants.

There are 130 awards available of up to £6,000 tuition fee waiver as part of the International Excellence Scholarship for September 2019 entry. The scholarship contributes to the tuition fee payment for the first year of studies for Postgraduates and is a £6,000 per year award for Undergraduates. Register your interest to be considered.

Phase 1: Apply by 30th April 2019 to be considered for an early award.

Phase 2: Apply by 31st July 2019 to be considered for a later award.

Brunel Santander International Scholarship

There are five awards available as part of the Santander Scholarship for September 2019 entry. Successful applicants will receive a £3,000 cash award towards their first year of study.

The Santander Scholarship for September 2019 is not open yet. Further details and full terms and conditions will follow soon.

Postgraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship

As part of the Postgraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship, 15% tuition fee discount is awarded to all those who meet the eligibility criteria.


No application is required as Brunel will automatically assess your eligibility in the summer.

Brunel Colciencias

The Brunel Colciencias is awarded to selected scholarship holders from Colombia. Successful students will receive 20% discount towards the cost of PhD fees. 

This scholarship is available to Colombian citizens wishing to study a PhD degree at Brunel University London. Priority areas include: Engineering and Nanotechnology; Humanities and Social Sciences; GIS and Environmental Sciences; Biodiversity; Health Sciences.

Commonwealth Scholarship

100% tuition fee, a monthly stipend, return airfares and other allowances as applicable is available.

Applications are considered according to the following selection criteria:

Academic merit of the candidate
Quality of the research proposal
Potential impact of the work on the development of the candidate’s home country

Rotary Scholarship

The Rotary Scholarship programme (graduate overseas study) is one of the largest privately funded scholarship programmes in the world.

Scholarships are generally for one year of study and around US $30,000.

Students must be studying on a course that fits under one of Rotary’s six Areas of Focus and awarded for study in a different country. To find out more and apply visit the Rotary Foundation website.

Sport Scholarships

Our Sports Scholarships offer a cash award of up to £3000 per academic year*. In addition there are a range of benefits including:
Support Package benefits/products worth over £500
Athlete-friendly accommodation on campus next to sports facilities**
Sport Psychology support
Free use of world-class sports facilities including Indoor Athletics Centre and Strength & Conditioning area
Free weekly physio sessions
Free spa access
Sport scholarship kit

College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences Academic Excellence Scholarship

The College of Engineering, Design & Physical Sciences (CEDPS) Academic Excellence Scholarship is a cash award available to full-time students commencing specified undergraduate courses in the College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences. An unlimited number of awards are available at a value of £2,000 cash each year for a maximum of three years.

There is no separate application, all students will be considered for the scholarship automatically based on the information supplied in their course application. More information can be found here.


Brunel Graduate Discount

We have always offered a reduction in PG tuition fees for our alumni. Our students who take up postgraduate education could be eligible to receive the '15% graduate discount'.

The Graduate Discount will not apply if you receive the Brunel International scholarship, Brunel Santander International Scholarship or Brunel International Regional Scholarships. Please refer to the individual scholarship terms and conditions for further information.

In addition self-funding students who pay their fees in full by enrolment are also entitled to a prompt payment discount of 2%. Additionally Brunel Alumni are entitled to an Alumni discount of 15%.

Family Discount

Applicants who have a direct family (spouse, parent, child or sibling) connection to alumni of Brunel are eligible to receive a discount of 10% off the tuition fees for every year of the course. In order to be considered for the discount, the online application form will need to be completed.
