Samuel Picariello

Samuel, Communication & Media Studies BSc

While at Brunel I have had the opportunity to develop a range of practical media skills whilst also gaining experience within the creative industry. I can also honestly say that I have benefitted massively from the support and advice of my lecturers who have prepared me for professional work placements in the industry. Through these contacts, I was able to grasp the opportunity of working at Disney for a year on a paid creative internship before luckily progressing into a position as an Associate Producer within the same team over the summer. As part of my role at Disney in London I was involved heavily in post production, working within a creative team responsible for creating promotional adverts and content for Disney Channel across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The experience has given me a great insight into working in the media industry, and confirmed to me that this is the path I would like to follow after graduation. I now know that I can tackle the creative industry once I have finished uni, safe in the knowledge that I know what is expected of me and that I have several professional credits to my name – Largely thanks to the time that I have spent at Brunel.

Paul, Communication & Media Studies MSc

I began my MSc in Media and Communications after many years in full-time work. The course was immensely stimulating, allowing me indulge some of my existing interests and introducing me to plenty of new topics and ideas. Returning to study after so many years was fairly daunting, but Brunel’s staff were very supportive and helped me to get to grips with the research process and academic writing. All in all, a fantastic experience.
