Your learning experience goes beyond lectures and seminars to develop your confidence and work-based skills.
You’ll learn in a stimulating environment through a mixture of lectures, seminars, small tutorial groups and dissertation supervisions. Brunel Anthropology courses, however, are not limited to the classroom. Whether you are studying one of our undergraduate degrees, postgraduate or research programmes, our courses offer you the unique opportunity to conduct your own anthropological research in the U.K. or abroad. The experience of managing your own research project provides you with invaluable practical skills for the future.
For your dissertation you will have the opportunity to design, develop, and carry out an original anthropological research project. You will have chance to select one of our experienced anthropologists to work closely with and develop your project. You will receive specialist research methods training in ethnographic fieldwork, as well as receive one-to-one support when developing your ideas and preparing your final dissertation piece.
Past dissertations have included research in the UK on topics such as:
- The Black Lives Matter Movement
- The COVID-19 pandemic
- Street Art
- Artificial Intelligence
- Burlesque Dance
- Bridal Salons in London
Projects abroad have been on topics such as:
- Veganism in Jamaica
- Race and Ethnicity in Colombia
- Conservation in Peru
- Ritual and Race in Belize
- Museums in Israel
